Fishing Report:
The reefs have come to life by the middle of April, with Barracuda, King Mackerel, and a variety of bottom species. This is also a great time to fish for Flounder before the big ones make their way offshore. If you are thinking about inshore fishing, any of the flats, beaches, or piers around Carolina Beach will suffice. The NC state record Flounder was caught here weighing in at 20 pounds and 8 ounces. A Florida Pompano caught right off Carolina Beach that weighed 8 pound also holds the NC state record. Anglers also target Red Drum and Black Drum. Other fish species known to inhabit these waters include Bluefish, Blowfish, Pompano, Cobia and False Albacore. Tarpon has even been spotted in this area.
