Recently, I took my son, Max, who just turned 6, for his first fishing trip. He was very excited, and nervous about being on the water. Captain Tony met us at the dock and took Max under his wing. The two really hit it off. When Max caught his first fish, on the rod and reel Tony gave him, Tony was almost more excited than Max. What a wonderful day!
We were out with Captain Tony, maybe 6 or 7 miles offshore, when I hooked this King Mackerel. This is a powerful fish that runs the second it realized what’s going on. The one thing you can’t do is rest, even for a second, or it will break the line. The fight is incredible. I’m a big guy and I was absolutely exhausted. I’ll never forget it. Thank you Tony.
What an incredibly different, incredibly refreshing day at the beach! We decided to catch a ride with Captain Tony to Masonboro Island. It’s only accessible by boat. There was a wonderful feeling of being off the beaten path, of being free and more at one with the ocean, sand, and sun. Tony and crew could not have been more accommodating. Let’s do it again!!!
